Welcome back to the John Port Spencer Academy. Our Year 7’s, Year 10’s and Year 12’s arrived in the Academy today looking very enthusiastic and with a positive attitude.
There are a few new things at John Port that we would like to make you aware of, please see below for further information.
New student planners will be issued soon. These are vital for communication between home and the Academy and students need to have these with them at all times along with other vital equipment (pens, pencils etc).
We will soon be introducing a new parent app that works alongside our information system. More details will follow about this, but we look forward to being able to share termly attendance and behaviour information on this app when it is up and running.
We have a new student reception next to the visitor reception in Ashbourne building. Please could all students who arrive late or need to leave early for an appointment go to the student reception to sign in/out. Students who need to leave early must also be collected from the student reception by a parent or guardian.
The Academy day starts at 8.55am, please can students enter the school site via the front of the school.
Most students arrived today looking very smart in complete uniform, however with all students due back tomorrow we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that failure to comply with our uniform requirements may result in students being isolated. Ties and blazers must be worn, shirts must be tucked in and skirts must be to the knee (no shorter than one palm width above the kneecap). Trousers must be tailored, full length and not tight fitting. Shoes must be formal and not have sports logos or be of trainer style. One pair of ear studs is allowed but no other piercings are to be worn. False nails must not be worn and hair must be of a natural shade and not of an extreme style.
Most of our students wear the correct uniform all of the time and we would like to thank you for your support with this. These students have nothing to worry about. It is those who do not comply who will be sanctioned.
We hope you have found this information useful and we look forward to working with you during this academic year.
Regards,
Mr L Opara
