John Port Spencer has entered into consultation on a proposal to provide additional teaching space.
Expansion is needed to meet increased demand for pupil places, with the expectation that JPSA will receive 420 pupils in-year, in place of the current 360 pupils. This will prevent local students having to travel out of catchment for their education.
As part of the proposed expansion, teaching facilities across the school will be substantially improved, with better accommodation for Science, Art, Post 16 and dining facilities.
The changes will be paid for in full from ‘Section 106’ funding generated from local housing.
A draft masterplan has been published as part of the consultation. The masterplan can be found with full details of the proposed changes at https://thinking-buildings.co.uk/jpsa/
John Port Spencer is now asking students, parents and members of the community to comment on the proposed changes. Comments can be submitted through the link above, and will be taken into consideration as part of plans to be submitted to the Local Planning Authority over the summer.
